Delete Your MusicLocal Account
MusicLocal makes account deletion available to everyone. Deletion ends account access and removes private account data while preserving the integrity of accepted public contributions.
Delete in the Mobile App
- Open You.
- Choose Account.
- Choose Delete MusicLocal account.
- Review the explanation and confirm deletion.
Clerk may require a recent sign-in before accepting the request. If so, sign out, sign in again, return to Account, and retry.
Delete on the Website
- Sign in at MusicLocal.
- Open your avatar menu and choose Manage account.
- Open Security and choose Delete account.
- Follow Clerk's confirmation steps.
Request Deletion Without the App
Email support@musiclocal.org with the subject "MusicLocal account deletion request." Send the request from the email address on the account when possible. We may use that address or another reasonable account-verification step; we will never ask you to email your password.
What We Remove
Account access ends as soon as Clerk confirms deletion. MusicLocal then uses a retryable background process to remove or de-identify:
- your profile name, email, avatar reference, settings, and authorization;
- likes, notifications, community memberships, and presence records;
- draft, pending, changes-requested, and rejected proposals and private review data; and
- your identified PostHog person, events, and session recordings.
What Remains Public
MusicLocal treats accepted edits like the revision history of a public knowledge base. Accepted records, accepted revisions, and media needed by those records remain so the directory does not become misleading or lose its editorial history. Your name is removed from that history and replaced with "Deleted contributor."
Uploaded Media
Media used by accepted public records remains with those records. MusicLocal removes unfinished submission records, but our current storage does not yet contain enough provenance to prove that every uploaded object is unused. An upload attached only to unfinished work may therefore remain in storage after its product record is removed. We are hardening that lifecycle rather than risking deletion of media used in public history.
To request removal of a specific image or raise a privacy, safety, or ownership concern, email support@musiclocal.org and include enough information to identify the media.
